Backlog: Houston Museum part 1

As promised, I'm digging out quite a few photos I never got around to posting.
Last November we took a trip to Houston to tour the Houston Science museum. There were two main features of interest: the fossils and the butterfly exhibit. This post is about the fossils.
One of the problems I had was the museum was not well lit for photography, and flash didn't light enough area. These pictures have been extensively processed to bring out details, so the coloring and resolution are just a bit off.
For some reason, I find trilobytes fascinating, especially the super-spiky ones.

The museum has a Quetzacoatlus hanging from the ceiling. The thing is HUGE!
A vast non-bird of prey

Size comparison: Steve & Becky & the rest of the museum vs. Quetzalcoatlus

Tyrannosaur (foreground) and Anatosaur (back)

Another view of Apatosaurus

The usual big ole sauropod

I don't remember which one this is, but it looks like a Diplodicus.
Avian evolution

Either Velociraptor or Deinonychus skeleton posed with Archaeopteryx and modern duck models.
Horse Ancestor

This is one of the horse ancestors; I think Merychippus.
Scimitar-tooth cat pouncing on some ungulate skeleton

Mastodon Skeleton

Giant Ground Sloth Skeleton

Nothing like standing next to one of these to get a feel for how huge they were. It really is about elephant-sized.
Glyptodont diorama

This was one of those weird South American marsupials. This one was a marsupial giant armadillo.
Pachycephalosaur at a spring diorama

Anklosaur Diorama

Steve and Becky for size comparison with the Life-Size Anklosaur model
