Audubon Zoo trip, part 1

The Audubon Zoo has two white tigers. Last March, it was a nice day and the tigers were feeling lazy.

Lazy tiger is lazy

Brother tiger is lazy, too.

I can out-lazy you any day!

I have this funny feeling I'm being watched

Yesterday, October 4th, it was warm and the tigers felt like cooling off. Tigers are one of the few cats that actually like water.

Chilling in the pool

Notice that they are soaking in the shady spot... under the boardwalk with all those delicious children running around overhead.

I see you over there with the camera!

After a bit, the tigers got bored; one of them got up and started wading around aimlessly in the water...

Wading tiger is wading

Hey, ho, I'm just splashing around...

Hey kids, lean over the rail and watch me right below you! Just lean a little bit further...

I'm just wandering around not paying any attention to that other tiger over there...

Here's me wandering some more, NOT PAYING ATTENTION AT ALL, really.

This ball totally conceals me from Brother Tiger Who Isn't Paying Attention At All

PAYING ATTENTION NOW!

Rats! I would have caught you if it weren't for those meddling tourists!

Hah! Fooled you--I really was paying attention!

Bah. I wasn't trying to catch you that hard, anyway.

(What happened here: Tiger #1 got up and started pacing aimlessly around in the pool. Tiger #2 crouched behind the ball like a very large kitty getting ready to pounce. Tiger 1 continued to wander around. Finally, Tiger 2 pounced and chased Tiger 1 across the enclosure and into the cliff roost.)

Pretty tiger

More pretty tiger

Not a pretty tiger

(Actually some kind of Asian forest pig, from the next enclosure over)

Some pig!

Next time: camels and things.

Oh, White tiggers! They're such beautiful cratures. In Madrid's zoo there are a couple of them, too. The one you called "pretty tiger" is my favorite photo.
The pic is a babirusa (Babyrousa babyrussa), I think. One of the ugliest and rarest wild pigs species. Those are female, the males have long fangs in the middle of its noise; kinda gross because it means they grow up crossing the noise.
I never seen one except in photos and TV reports.
