Vacation, Day 3: Big Trees

Monday, we checked out of the hotel I'd been living in for the last 8 months and departed San Jose, heading southwest to Big Bend Redwood State Park. I've posted previously about my first visit to the big trees; this time, I took Becky & Steve to see them.
Becky models a very large log

Note that the slice above is from a 1400-year-old Coastal Redwood. The Father of the Forest is at least twice as big as that one. How old is it??

Sempervirens Falls

This fall is a bit livelier after the winter rains than it was last july.

Above the falls, the brook chuckles along happily, and is a very pretty deep woodsy stream.
After our tour of the big trees, we hit the road and made it to Bakersfield.
