1. Pick one of my characters, any one (even if you're only familiar with a vague description instead of a name).
2. I will tell you the origin of his/her name.
3. I will tell you random facts surrounding his/her creation.
4. I will give you a random fact of his/her backstory.
5. I will give you a random fact of his/her forestory.
6. You may ask me up to ten questions about the character
7. I will give you one TMI fact. (And if you don't want that, please specify.)
Forestory, in this instance, is either measured from the latest chronological fanfic I've written them in, or, if they haven't appeared in a fanfic, from the starting point of the canon they come from.

Date: 2006-11-26 06:02 pm (UTC)She was created because I wanted to inflict a classically clingy, dependent "my entire existance is defined by my man" type of woman on Vegeta, and have her grow up from the interaction with "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" Vegeta. She had to be a mythic being found in the Hindu underworld, which the Nagas are. And she gets to be a six-armed snake demon--I still like that picture from the original AD&D Monster Manual.
A bit of backstory: as I recall, Kadru is the daughter of Vasuki and Princess Snake. Mom & Dad are separated due to Mom's bad habit of eating Dad's chancellors (she's one of Ravanna's children and has a rakshasa's appetite). Mom dotes on her little girl Kadru, and Dad pretty much dislikes the kid as she's Mom's favorite, and is hard to find a husband for, because he's cheap and doesn't want to shell out the extra dowry needed to overcome the "she's one of Ravanna's grandchildren? I don't want to be eaten on my wedding night!" thing.
Forestory: She marries Prince Khara, and they live happily ever after and have lots of very odd kids. Mom and Dad smile at each other through gritted teeth at the wedding, and go back to hating each other afterward.
TMI: Princess Kadru can take the form of a giant cobra, a human-headed giant snake, a six-armed snake demon, or a human girl. Prince Khara is a rakshasa, and can appear to be anyone and anything that strikes his fancy. Or invisible. They are socially conservative--by Hindu standards, which means both are properly educated on the Kama Sutra, and know that good sex is one of the things expected of a proper husband and wife. Just imagine their sex life.
Waiting on your ten questions, if any.

Date: 2006-11-26 08:15 pm (UTC)Wayward did the 'Stupidity in Blue' poster (http://www.insecticons.com/images/Slog-03.jpg) first, long ago. I kept looking at it and wondering about the story of the unfortunate Seeker who picked a fight with Slog, and it came to me one night. So I wrote 'Stupidity in Blue, Redux (http://dragoness-e.livejournal.com/13518.html)' about the death of that foolish Seeker, and his horrific fate.
Backstory bits: Duskwing was one of the Seekers that went with Megatron and the canonical Seekers on the Nemesis and got to enjoy the same 4 million year nap as the rest of them. He was one of the many extra Seekers seen in the background of the MTME episodes building the spaceship, and got sent back to Cybertron when the space-bridge started working. He was quite good at pure violence, which is why he was dragged along on the Nemesis, but not too hot at anything that required thinking. He was also a tad on the dishonest side--he and his business partner Windtalon were busy stealing energon from Shockwave's depot and selling it on the black market when Slog caught them red-handed.
Forestory: Eventually, someone Duskwing is close to will die, and he'll follow them when they go, his attachment to them overcoming his fear of what might come next.
Can't think of anything TMI to say about Dusky. He's a very lonely jet; he wasn't a very likeable mech in life and had few real friends. In death, one of the things that he regrets is that no one either liked him or hated him enough to care that he was dead.

Date: 2006-11-26 08:31 pm (UTC)I like "Duskwing" more than "Darkwing", I have to admit. My brain seems to think it suits him better, for no reason that I can put my finger on. I like your reasoning though.

*nods* I saw Wayward's art. It intrigued me when I found out someone had picked the character up and written something about them. I like reading fics that involve him now. Between those fics and the RPing, he's really, really grown on me.
"Forestory: Eventually, someone Duskwing is close to will die, and he'll follow them when they go, his attachment to them overcoming his fear of what might come next."
Aww. That's... both kinda sad, and rather sweet at the same time. *resists the urge to go :3, but patpats the ghost anyway*

*More "aww..."* *patpats again*
(*will think up questions when brain is more up to it*)

Date: 2006-12-03 03:13 pm (UTC)In the story "Dead Mech Escape (http://dragoness-e.livejournal.com/19140.html)", I needed a bit character to provide a bit of comic relief and perspective on all the shooting and explosions going in the shuttle hangar. Cartwheel came into the story as a maintenance tech who was taking a nap (in alt mode) in the nice, quiet shuttle hangar where nobody bothers him. Unfortunately for his nap, Octane needed a fast shuttle off Charr that day...
I needed a bartender for the story "Dead and Drunk (http://dragoness-e.livejournal.com/21329.html)", and I'd already decided that pre-Unicron, Cartwheel had been part of the same unit Hammerbolt and Casque were assigned to. I decided that Cartwheel moonlighted as a bartender, and was thus tending bar where his friends hung out. So Cartwheel got to be a bartender with ghosts in his bar (http://dragoness-e.livejournal.com/21664.html).
Don't really have any forestory planned for him. He'll just keep tending bar and fixing things wherever Decepticons are, whenever I need a bartender to tell a story. Perhaps someday he'll even be willing to repair mechs, rather than dumb vehicles, again.
Are we ever going to hear one of his older relatives say, "One more thing..."?
Probably not, alas. Almost all his kith and kin went 'kablooie' when Unicron took a swipe at Cybertron... except for those who'd already been killed in the war.
The last bit isn't really TMI, just personal: Cartwheel used to be a repair tech/medic for Hammerbolt's unit. He was also very good friends with Hammerbolt, Casque and Red Axle, and was devastated when they were killed in an Autobot ambush. He hasn't allowed himself to get that close to anyone since, and had his records
hackedaltered to keep him from being assigned as a repair tech on living mechs again. (He doesn't want to get to like the people he works with/on).no subject
