Merry Christmas, everyone!

I'm putting up several batches of bird pictures today, as a Christmas present to someone I know especially enjoys them.



An unfamiliar duck



I've never seen this particular duck around before. I haven't identified it yet, either, but I think it is some kind of wild duck.


Proud rooster



This rooster was just standing under a tree, looking very proud to be a rooster.

Anhinga



For some time, we mixed these guys up with cormorants, until we saw this fellow. I finally noticed that his beak was wrong for a cormorant. Also, cormorants don't bend their necks double. Look at this bird's neck, and you'll see why they are called 'snakenecks'.

I can tie my neck in a knot!

Over on the other side of the park, there was a duck with one little lonely duckling paddling after her.
