Walking around the pond, we spotted a few other things...

Sitting on a piling was a double-crested cormorant. Note the different neck and beak compared to the anhinga from previously.

Cormorant

Like the anhinga, the cormorant must dry its wings

Wandering around the park, we spotted this fellow:

What's that?

It turned out that he was someone's escaped pet rabbit. He was pretty tame.

Hey, who are you guys?

You aren't important enough for me to stop eating

Rabbit

On the other side of the dry fake waterfall, we found another rabbit:

Black & white rabbit

This one was a bit more shy. It turned out that there are several feral rabbits living under the concrete of the fake waterfall.

We also saw another one of these introduced doves:

European ring-necked dove

Next time: we finally find the cygnets.

Over here, we call those collared doves. They're vermin, and very tasty at that.

You've been hunting, or do they sell game meat at the market over there? Over here, you only get to eat dove if you hunt them; they're a game bird. Tricky to hunt; they've a fast, dodging flight and it takes real skill with a shotgun to bring one down.

Haha, not even slightly. My father shoots them in his back garden. They come down for the food he puts out for songbirds, he picks their heads off with an air rifle. He used to trap them as well, but he stopped doing that when he moved house.
