I have a Facebook account under my real name for sharing family interests. Facebook is appallingly nosy; I plan to keep it compartmentalized from my fandom & writing stuff here on Dreamwidth/LJ and on my website, so I'm not posting the name here, and I'm not posting anything about Dragoness Eclectic there. I'm also not posting anything about my current job here or there. I'm also disabling Facebook scripting/trackers when I'm not on Facebook.

What am I posting, one might ask? That's where pictures of family members, like the big family reunion picnic last weekend, will go. Stuff like recipes, etc that are of interest to both "worlds" will get reposted here and there. That's where I can connect with my in-laws and play Scrabble or whatever.

Ugh, know what you mean about it being appallingly nosy. I caved during my final year of high school and got one because back then it was the simple and functional alternative to MySpace, and my friends figured it would be a good way to keep in touch after high school when we'd all go off to different universities in different towns far away from each other.

That's pretty much the only reason I haven't deleted mine yet: several of my friends still solely rely on Facebook to keep in touch. But I feel like the only times I remember to log in are when I'm prompted by someone, or I read about an incoming change that messes with their features, so I have to log in to re-do all my damn privacy settings and check whether I still have everything locked down to the equivalent of "friends only" on LJ (Facebook seems to have an annoying habit of making all their new features set as "public", because I guess they don't think some of us might not want everybody on the interwebs seeing who we are or what we get up to in real life).

And yeah, like you I tend to keep fandom/gamer talk out of Facebook. The last thing I need is it somehow getting back to my relatives or my boss.

Having said all that, if you get a friend request from any Ravens, it's probably me.
