My unnamed NaNoWriMo novel continues...
Nov. 10th, 2004 07:18 pmSo yesterday, Mael & Malureaa wake up to find a pair of demon-ridden berserks attacking them. Since this was the morning after the night of the big Spring Festival orgy fertility rite, they are not exactly ready for combat. And did I mention that Screaming Jaguar berserks are really hard to kill? You have to behead them, the demon possessing them gives them an unnatural vitality.
Mael's enemy Wulfhere has the same problem--he wound up in a noblewoman's boudoir, and has berserks kicking in the door first thing in the morning. Did I mention that Wulfhere is also a werewolf? Nasty fight.
Today, however, I didn't get any writing done. I spent my time putting together a map of the region most of the action takes place, and searching the web for on-line Tolkien Elvish dictionaries and Ancient Egyptian pages, as the Danan language is a euphonious composite of the two.
I really should mention in the prologue somewhere that the story is set in a mythical "Atlantis", basically, the "what if Ignatius Donnelly's speculations had been correct rather than complete hooey?" plus some sword & sorcery stuff. (Okay, a lot of sword & sorcery. That's what makes it fun.)
But I really do need to actually write some of this....
