Dragon*Con: Saturday Costumes

I saw quite a few nice costumes Saturday, in among the vast throngs of people.

The first few were outside, in the hotel's entrance drive under the building.

Gypsy fortune-teller?

Inside, many more.

A Thundercat (right) and friend

As previously mentioned, while waiting in line to get Timothy Zahn's autograph, I saw several nice costumes.

One was this Star Wars Mandalorian mercenary

..with helmet on

He and his buddy to the right made up his costume. Unfortunately, they made the mistake of making his wrist armor/flamethrower out of welded steel, and it got just a tad heavy after wearing around for a while. After these photos, he took the wrist pieces off and left them off.

I'm told by friends with experience in making metallic-looking robot costumes that you don't use metal, it's too heavy. Use vacuum-molded sheet plastic and spray-paint it with metallic paint, instead.

Knight Crusader

Grand Admiral Thrawn

...who just happens to be the major villain of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars novels.

Grand Admiral Thrawn and his Klingon Lady

I was told that this lady is a recent graduate in the field of Theatrical Design, and designed both their costumes.

A pair of Jedi, one wearing Rebel armor

Is that Silk Spectre from Watchmen on the left?

A very young Spiderman and R2-D2

Marvel's Deadpool and a random Mandalorian (Star Wars)

Princess Leia and R2-D2 re-enacting the opening scene from the original "Star Wars"

Princess Leia reacting to a very short Darth Vader

That Mandalorian about to take his helmet off

That's Deadpool to the right again.

A Tusken Sandraider from Star Wars

Star Wars: A Twilek Jedi vs Tusken Sandraider

Welcome to the Green Lantern Corps! Sort of

Right to Left: Katma Tui (a Green Lantern), John Steward (one of The Green Lanterns), some Jedi, and a Black Lantern.

Drow Raiding Party viciously attacks innocent chicken sandwiches!

Rest of Drow Raiding Party -- including Jarlaxle

You can see his hat on the table.

A Steampunk adventurer

The NCIS crew

Since these guys are wearing fairly mundane costumes, I almost didn't notice them. (Yes, goth fashion is mundane for Dragon*Con). Just before I passed these guys by, it registered that "Hey, isn't that goth girl's outfit oddly like Abby's?" I took a second look, and realized it WAS an Abby costume... and the rest of NCIS.

...and this is the first time I noticed they had a "Ziva" peeking over "Abby"'s shoulder.

The Highwayman

I thought this guy was doing a Solomon Kane costume, but he said no, just a highwayman from the period.

Another steampunk adventurer, this one with heavy weaponry

Dangerous Women

Left to right: DC's Wonder Woman, someone from a video game?, and Marvel's Enchantress (villainess).

Marvel's Green Goblin

More Heroines

I have no idea who these two characters are. Help me out, someone?

Tony Stark in his racing suit, scantily-clad girl (of course), and a female Iron Man costume

A Thor

Steampunk Professor X in his Wheelchair

Back view of steampunk wheelchair

A D&D Paladin

This fellow is cosplaying as his table-top D&D character. (Yes, I asked him who he was).

A rather well-done Spike (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

Edward Scissorhands

Another Legolas

Mal and Inara from Firefly

Alas, these guys turned the wrong way just as I snapped a picture, and the crowd was too dense to ask them to pose for me.

A really impressive Steampunk adventurer/mad scientist

Venom (from Marvel) and victim

I have no idea what these 18th Century people are from

Nathan (the Repo Man) and Shilo from "Repo: A Genetic Opera"

I have no idea, but he was with Repo Man

Go go gadget photo labelling correction!

-If that picture is of Silk Spectre then it's a fairly inaccurate costume as she doesn't wear a domino mask, among other things. But hey, who knows.

-The Random Mandalorian from "Deadpool and a Random Mandalorian" looks a lot like Jango Fett.

-"A Twilek Jedi vs Tusken Sandraider" - She's Aayla Secura.

-The black Green Lantern's name is John Stewart, not Steward.

-The third 'Dangerous Woman' is Loki as a girl, not Enchantress. He's been a she for the last few years, but she's now a he again. And is also dead. (YEah, I know. Yay marvel.)

-"More Heroines" - the girl on the right is one of the dancing girls at the start of Iron Man 2 that Tony has dance for him when he arrives as Iron Man. The one on the left is... I dunno. Goth Girl War Machine?

-"Venom and Victim" is actually Venom and Two-Face.

So many awesome costumes, ugh so jealous.

Stuff I noticed.

Pretty sure the last one is supposed to be cloud from final fantasy. I'm also pretty sure that guy labeled edward scissorhands isn't just edward scissorhands, he's like a combo of every johnny depp character.

thats me (tristan milam) as repo man and my friend (logan haga) was actually cloud, so good call. he me helped make the repo costume which took about a month to plan, a month to find as many accurate parts as possible and about 2 or 3 months of working off and on (mainly off) to make it. his cousin gave him a cloud costume at the last minute to go with his FF7 costume.
