Dragon*Con: Friday, Evening at Bree
Every Dragon*Con, Friday evening is "Evening at Bree", which is a dance and Tolkien-character costume event with live music by Emerald Rose, a Southern Celtic/Pagan folk band from north Georgia. We like their music; it rocks. Becky and I both like to attend the dance, too.
There was dancing...
The band is on the platform way in the back. Hard to see because of the lighting.

There were lots and lots of interesting costumes. Most of them were, of course, inspired by the "Lord of the Rings" movies.
Elf girl with bow

Bilbo Baggins

Frodo and... Frodo?

Yes, we have two Frodos! Complete with the One Ring.
The "Two Rings" doesn't sound quite the same.

Merry and Pippin, or possibly another Frodo and Samwise

Two elves and a Jedi

An orc in a kilt. Radical!

Some people have the nerve to tug on Gandalf's beard
Not to mention blink at the camera flash.

Not to worry, we have a spare Gandalf

A soldier of Minas Tirith

Elves are easily startled by bright flashes

Original character with really pretty armor

Aragorn

Raise your hand if you see anything anachronistic in this costume

People in totally unrelated costumes wandered in for the festivities, or the costume contest.
Cogsworth and Mrs. Pots from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast"

Connor McCloud (of Clan McCloud) and some showgirl

I have no idea, but I suspect another Disney character

Dracula, as based on Gary Oldman's Dracula in "Bram Stoker's Dracula"

The Black Mage from Final Fantasy, next to Aragorn

Harry Dresden and some goth girl (and that orc in the kilt)

Our stray Jedi, again

Another Jedi that showed for the dance and costume contest

Viking!

Whew! That's it for the "Evening at Bree" pictures. Next time, I'll try to get some of Saturday's pictures up.
