Rosicrucian Park, Part 1
First in a multi-part series about my Feb 10th trip to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, which is located in Rosicrucian Park, headquarters of the Rosicrucian order. I'm not sure if it's the American headquarters or just for the Bay Area. They have, courtesy of their devotion and interest in ancient Egyptian mysticism, the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts in the western U.S.
The buildings of Rosicrucian Park are built in Egyptian revival and Moorish revival styles, and are simply gorgeous to look at. Take a look for yourself!
A map! How convenient!

The main gates

On the map, these are located at the corner of Park Ave and Naglee Ave, on the lower right. I actually wandered in a side-gate along Naglee Ave and took quite a few pictures before wandering out the main gates to take their picture.
From the main gate, we go to the obelisk...

Amenophis Obelisk and sphinxes. These are reproductions or modern revivals of ancient Egyptian forms.
Sphinx

Note the unusual heiroglyphs inside the blue square...
Amenophis Obelisk

Statue of Amenophis

This statue-shrine in the ankh pathway is found at the corner of Naglee Ave and Chapman St. That's one end of the Administration Building behind him.
18th Dynasty Temple Facade... er, Administration Building

Temple Gates... er, Administration Building front door

Next time: Akhenaton Shrine and bits of the Peace Garden
