Touring Silicon Valley
I've been sick for the last two weekends--persistant sinus/ear infection that Just Won't Go Away--so no new places and pics. However, I have a lot of pics from a while back that I never inflicted on all of you...
I couldn't resist taking pictures of the offices and labs of significant players in the tech industry. Businesses that make the stuff I use in my computers, or on computers, or plugged into the back somewhere--or out there on the web. Geek household names.
I was impressed that Yahoo had multiple multi-story buildings...

That was before I learned that Cisco Networks has multiple city blocks!

(Cisco seems to own most of Tasman St. in San Jose. Cisco Networking also built all of the routers that run the Internet.)
This isn't even in front of a building. It's like, 'Hey, we own this block'.

Sun Microsystems tops that--they have a campus!

The Sun Clocktower

SanDisk - the guys who make memory cards for your digital cameras

You have heard these guys' ads on the radio/TV, right?

Samsung, another well-known name in the computer components business--like hard drives

Trolley, runs along Tasman St.

Synaptics makes touchpads found in laptops and mobile phones

Broadcom makes chips that do DSL, Cable, HD DVD, etc. You'll find their stuff in a lot of your entertainment and communications electronics.

An old acquaintance--Lockheed/Martin

The landscaping is lovely; flowers everywhere!

Lily of the Nile is used extensively as borders around buildings or in medians

There are relatively few multi-story buildings higher than 2 stories. Two seems to be the standard around here, probably for some building code or zoning reason unknown to me. Yahoo, Sun, WebEx, and McAfee are notable exceptions, with tall buildings along Great America Parkway.
